Return to Wholeness Print
An elegant work of biological art by Hong Kong-based taxidermist, Sangmit Specimen Studio. The work in this print displays a dramatic image of a raw Syrian hamster skeleton without any degreasing or bleaching.
This print showcases one panel of a larger, 3-panel piece. A triptych called Alpha, Omega, A-‘O’. It functions as an Ouroboros, a non-linear loop where the end and the beginning collapse into each other. The bones are raw, unbleached, with visceral traces of tissue on cracked concrete. It’s a heavy Memento Mori, facing the opposite direction (of the other panels). But through this physical decay and destruction, we return to that primal wholeness. The loop is complete; death becomes the ultimate return to ‘One’.
